Batch Testing

Due to the current Coronavirus circumstances unfortunately the batch testing in June is cancelled and August will be reviewed at a later date.

Since I last wrote to you the impact of Coronavirus on our everyday lives has become even greater. I know how difficult it has been for many and my first thoughts are for everyone’s wellbeing. I also think it is important to share my appreciation for the incredible and heroic work and efforts of NHS Staff and all other key workers who are doing an amazing job in the most difficult of circumstances. I understand this only too clearly as five members of my immediate family are key workers. As previously reported, in accordance with Government advice the Lord Roberts Centre and the NSRA were closed in March and remain so.

In terms of the NSRA, a skeleton staff continue to work and monitor emails etc and deal with the necessary day to day business that must continue if the NSRA is to sustain itself. To ensure that we are able to support those people, who need our assistance, I kindly ask you only contact us if your query or request is urgent, and by email. It is also important to remember that the skeleton team that are continuing to work are doing so remotely and will not have access to anything physical in the NSRA offices, including the fulfilment of NSRA Shop orders. As the Pandemic spreads, it is imperative the Association follows Government advice and protects its employees. We will continue to do so for the foreseeable future and until advice suggests otherwise.

The Board of Management continue to be involved and are anxious to contribute to the workings of the Association and manage the business of the NSRA effectively. A three hour Board Meeting was held last week using Web-Ex, an online, web and videoconferencing application.  A meeting of the Pistol and Crossbow Working Group was also held ten days ago using the same technology. Both meetings were a success and discussion commenced about the possibility of using such technology for meetings of NSRA Committees and Working Groups in the future, including once things have returned to normal.

Part of the Board’s discussions was about the NSRA’s Competitions and Events and there is a separate article on the website about the dates for the Shoulder to Shoulder Competitions in 2021.  Hopefully early confirmation of these dates will enable people to start provisionally planning for next year. Our plans for this year’s Postal Competitions remains the same as previously announced but as with everything this will be monitored and considered as we move forward and amended should the need arise.

As the situation develops and evolves I will be in touch again with further updates. In the meantime, keep well and thank you for your understanding.
